For the first time, the Department of Dentistry at TashIUV was organized in 1967 under the leadership of prof. K.S. Malikov, who was in charge of it until 1996. In 1976, on the basis of the department, independent departments of orthopedic, therapeutic and surgical dentistry were organized. In 1979, the department of pediatric dentistry was separated as an independent department.
Since 1996, the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry began to function on a self-supporting basis.
In 1998, the Department of Dentistry 2 was organized through the merger of the departments of orthopedic and therapeutic dentistry on a self-supporting basis.
From 1996 to 2007, the department was headed by Associate Professor S.R. Tillyakhodjaev.
From 2007 to 2015, the department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor S.S. Agzamkhodzhaev.
From January to September 2016, the department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Zh.A. Rizaev.
Since September 2016, the department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Gafforov S.A.
Since September 2017, the Department of Dentistry, Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics has been organized due to the merger of the Departments of Dentistry-2 and Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics and the department is headed by Professor S.A. Gafforov.
The main goal of the department is to organize and conduct cycles of primary specialization and improvement for dentists working in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions of the Republic and Tashkent city, both in the public and private sectors.
In pursuance of the letter of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 8-7.4 / 113 dated 05.03.08, the department organized advanced training courses for dental technicians, which today is fully equipped and the educational process has begun in the 2009-2010 academic year.
