History of the Faculty of Surgery:

A surgical faculty was opened at the Tashkent Institute of Advanced Medical Training, the current Center for the Development of Professional Qualifications of Medical Workers. 

The basis for the organization of the faculty was the need for specialization and improvement of doctors, taking into account the new nature and scale of healthcare tasks, an increase in the number of departments of surgical profile, interest on the part of the rector's office in the centralized management of educational and scientific departments of the institute, as well as the need to expand specialized training of doctors in surgical disciplines.

Over the years, the faculty was headed by the deans of the faculty of surgery.

2004-2016, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Alidjanov Fotikh Bakievich

2016—until today, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Kariev Saidakhror Saidaslanovich.

The Faculty performs tasks for additional professional training (advanced training, professional retraining) of surgical specialists within the framework of primary specialization, general and thematic improvement, and professional retraining in accordance with the Charter of the Center. The basis of the faculty's work consists in the collective management of its activities (making fundamental decisions at the Faculty Council) and the implementation of its main tasks by organizing constant interaction between departments in various aspects of their activities. 

Currently, the faculty consists of 16 departments:

In the future, further improvement of educational and methodological work will be carried out by searching for new forms of teaching, organizing and conducting new training cycles, and further computerization of the educational process. In scientific and medical activities, the development and improvement of new medical technologies and their active introduction into the educational process and practical healthcare. In international activities, it is the expansion of international contacts based on the common scientific and educational interests of the departments. The personnel policy includes active training of young specialists adapted to teaching and scientific activities in modern conditions.

The purpose of educational programs (Mission of educational programs): To protect the health of the nation by training a new generation of highly competent medical specialists, while preserving and multiplying the best traditions of domestic healthcare with the integration of modern international standards of postgraduate education, which is aimed at providing advanced specialized training and continuous professional development. Focus training programs on the practical application of knowledge and skills in real-world clinical and professional scenarios to improve the quality of medical care and prevent infectious and non-infectious diseases.
