History
On April 22, 1936, the Ministry of Health of the UzSSR issued Order No. 5/38 to establish the library of the Tashkent Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education.
In 2006, on the basis of the Decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On organization of provision of information-library to the population of the Republic", the name of the library was changed into Information Resource Center (IRC).
The information resource center is one of the structural units with sufficient potential with educational, methodological, scientific literature to ensure the educational process, educational work and scientific research activities. IRC users-readers can get information about the resources of the library fund via the Internet at lib.tipme.uz website.
Main tasks
- Formation of information culture of readers, interest in national history and culture, development and popularization of reading culture.
- Introduction of the newest information technologies, development of corporate networks.
- Creation of a mechanism for gathering information-library funds, including electronic and other media, into the information system.
- Creation of electronic catalogs, full-text databases and provision of Internet access.
- Education of library and information culture, teaching readers modern information search methods.
- Formation of an information-library fund related to the profile of CDPQMW and according to the information needs of readers.
- Organization and maintenance of information search devices, databases, catalogs and files.
