The Central Asian Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education (now the Tashkent Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education) was established by Resolution No. 459 of the Presidium of the Central Council on June 22, 1932, based on the need for advanced training of medical personnel in the Central Asian Republics. The goals and objectives of the Tashkent Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education have been clearly defined from the very beginning. These are:
- advanced training and specialization of doctors;
- training of scientific personnel;
- training of managers in the health care system;

     The development of the institute coincided with the most difficult period in the health care system. At that time, one of the biggest problems in the cities and villages of the country was the training and retraining of doctors, the formation of national staff, improving the quality of medical services, prevention and control of dangerous infectious diseases.

     During the difficult period, the institute carried out such tasks as the organization of teaching, scientific and practical activities of the departments, strengthening their material and technical base. For the first time, 6 departments were opened and 84 doctors were retrained. Along with life, the institute has also developed and improved its work on training and retraining of personnel in the health care system.

         The great scientists, professors, teachers and assistants, who laid the foundation stone of the institute and made a great contribution to its development, have left an indelible mark on the life of the institute with their selfless work. Former rectors of the Tashkent Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education J.S. Pulatov, M.B. Sultonov, Z.A.Daminov, M.A.Mirzamuhamedov, Q.S.Zoirov. HH Khusanov and AR Rakhimjanov have made a unique contribution to the current prestige of this institution.

       We will always remember the memory, knowledge and experience of the talented teachers who worked at different times at the Tashkent Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education, which has been formed, developed and adapted to the requirements of the time for many years.        In the Presidential Decrees and Resolutions, the State Program of Health Care Reform of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Program of Personnel Training, the State Program "For a Healthy Generation" to improve continuing education, professional development of specialists throughout their careers. allows you to increase. Professional development and specialization of personnel is one of the most pressing issues today.

       Over the years, the prestige of the Tashkent Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education has grown, but its goals and objectives have not changed. The research conducted at the institute, the developed teaching aids have helped to improve the system of postgraduate education and retraining and to train highly qualified medical personnel.

      Currently, TashVMOI has 49 departments and 5 faculties covering 5 courses: Faculty of Medical Prophylaxis and UAS training; Faculty of Therapy; Faculty of Surgery; Faculty of Pediatrics; Faculty of Management, Social and Primary Health.

       The most prestigious, leading scientific and practical medical centers of the country have training bases of the Institute, Research Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Scientific Research Center of Surgery named after V.Vakhidov, Research Institute of Dermatovenereology, Research Institute of Tuberculosis and Pulmonology , IATM in Pediatrics, ITI in Traumatology and Orthopedics. SSC 1 is the main clinical base of TashVMOI.

      On the implementation of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers 04174 of 04.04.2017, the Central Organizational and Methodological Council was established in TVMOI, which includes not only employees of the institute, but also employees of all faculties of the Republic.

       The 418 full-time professors and teachers of the institute include 3 academicians, 86 doctors of medical sciences, 110 professors and more than 170 candidates of medical sciences, 78 associate professors. Many of them have been awarded the title of "Excellence in Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan." Professor Kamilov Khalidjon Mahamadjonovich, the Hero of Uzbekistan, also works at our institute.
