The department was organized in 1967 by Professor Mnushkin Aron Solomonovich.The history of the Department of Cardiology is inextricably linked with the history of its founding in 1932. and reorganization of the Tashkent Institute for Advanced Training of Doctors. The basis for the organization of the department was the Department of Hospital Therapy of the Tashkent Medical Institute, headed by professors Slonim Moisei Ilyich (1932-1940), Mankus Heinrich Frantsevich (1940-1942), associate professor Gekhtman Lev Revimovich (1942-1947).

Since 1947, Professor A.S. Mnushkin began to head the Department of Therapy; on his initiative, in 1967, the department was reorganized into the Department of Cardiology, which Professor A.S. Mnushkin. continued to head until 1973.

From 1973 to 1999 The department was headed by Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Honored Worker of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Corresponding Member of the Russian Medical Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Yuldashev Karim Yuldashevich. On his initiative, a functional diagnostics course was organized at the department.

A well-known scientist in the field of clinical medicine, one of the leading organizations­Director of healthcare, Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Professor Yuldashev Karim Yuldashevich was born in 1933. in Tashkent.

The beginning of his lies­educational and scientific-pedagogical activities are associated with the Tashkent Medical Institute, where he worked his way up to professor of the department of internal diseases, and in 1973-1999. Head of the Department of Cardiology and Functional Diagnostics of Tashkent Institute of Ultrasound.

Since 1976from 1982 to 1982, being the Deputy Minister of Health of the Uzbek SSR, Yuldashev K. Yu. paid a lot of attention to the development of medical science in the republic, optimization and planning of research work, and their timely and complete implementation in practical healthcare.

Yul's scientific research results­Dasheva K.Yu. had a significant influence on the organization of treatment and preventive work in the health authorities of Uzbekistan. The scientific school he created successfully contributes to the development of medical science.

Under the leadership of Yuldashev K. Yu., the 11th doctor was protected­Russian and 66 candidate dissertations. He published 530 scientific works, including 22 books (monographs, textbooks, manuals).

The famous scientist and organizer of medical science Yuldashev K. Yu. has repeatedly represented medicine with dignity­Russian science at international forums (Sweden, Japan, Germany, France, Czechoslovakia, India, Syria, England, etc.).

Yuldashev K. Yu. carried out great public work, being­Having been for many years a member of the editorial boards of the journals “Therapeutic Archive”, “Clinical Medicine”, “Issues of Balneology, Physiotherapy and Medical Physical Culture”, a member of the editorial board of the journals “Medical Journal of Uzbekistan”, “Health”, etc., and was also the chairman Scientific Society of Therapists of Uzbekistan.

The Cardiology School of Practical Health was created in the Republic by a close-knit creative and professionally active team of teachers.The following specialists made a significant contribution to the development of the department:as, associate professors Irmukhamedov A.G., Shaykhov E.D., Sultankhodzhaeva M.N., Kholmatov B.Kh., Maksumova M.G., Yarmukhamedova G.H., assistants Zhitnitskaya A.E., Khaidarov M.A. ., Babajanov M.S. Since 2008, the course of functional diagnostics was reorganized into the Department of Functional Diagnostics of TashIUV, which was headed until 2020 by Doctor of Medical Sciences. Yarmukhamedova G.Kh., and now the department is headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences. Mukhamedova M.G.

In 1999, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Atakhanova L.E. became the head of the department. At the Tashkent Institute for Advanced Training of Doctors of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2002, according to the Decree of President Islamov I.A., the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a course in “Gerontology and Geriatrics” was organized and the department was renamed into the Department of Cardiology with a course in gerontology and geriatrics.

Between 2003 and 2011. The department has developed: a postgraduate education program in the specialty "GERONTOLOGY AND GERIATRICS" and 14 thematic improvement programs on the problems of "GERONTOLOGY AND GERIATRICS" for doctors of all therapeutic specialties.

Since 2001, clinical residency in the specialty “Cardiology” was restored at the department. Along with teaching activities, the staff of the department are engaged in medical activities and scientific research on the problem “Clinical and pathogenetic aspects of a differentiated approach to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cardiovascular diseases in different age groups.”

Atakhanova Liliya Ergashevna Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor

From 1998 to 2012 she headed the department. On her initiative and active participation, a course on “Gerontology and Geriatrics” was organized at the Department of Cardiology. Between 2003 and 2011. The department has developed postgraduate education programs on the characteristics of cardiovascular pathology in elderly and senile people. Atakhanova L.E. Atakhanova L.E. is the Chairman of the Association of Gerontologists of Uzbekistan, a branch under the Presidium of the Academy of Medical Sciences, Member of the Presidium of the Association of Doctors of Uzbekistan, the Problem Commission on Internal Medicine of the Faculty of Internal Medicine of the Tashkent Institute of Internal Medicine, Member of the editorial boards and councils of medical journals - Modern Rheumatology (Russia)

The study of the characteristics of pathology in elderly and senile people - aspects of “gerontology and geriatrics” is a priority direction of the department. The scientific and practical direction of the department is devoted to the study of “Clinical and pathogenetic aspects of a differentiated approach to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cardiovascular diseases in different age groups.”

From 2012 to this day, the department is headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Tulaboeva G.M., being a student of the academicianYuldasheva K.Yu., she worthily continues the traditions of her teacher, being an innovator of innovative trends in cardiology. On the initiative of Tulaboeva G.M. and her active participation in the educational process of the department, integrated specialization courses in interventional cardiology were introduced (864 credits - 6 months), accordingly, educational programs were developed and approved. Specialization courses are conducted jointly with employees of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Cardiology, while the department is the moderator of this course.

Considering the relevance and wide demand for the introduction of interventional and minimally invasive methods of treating cardiovascular diseases in practical cardiology in all regions, including remote regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as in order to improve the quality of continuing medical education in accordance with the order of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated October 20, 2021 No. 02 -042, on behalf of the Example of the Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated October 27, 2021 No. 07/1-2585, the department was renamed to the department of “Cardiology and Gerontology with a course of interventional cardiology and arrhythmology.”

Over the past 10 years, 3 doctoral and 8 candidate dissertations have been prepared and defended, and 5 applicants are currently conducting research work.

Employees of the department actively participate in international and republican congresses and conferences, giving presentations and demonstrating their scientific achievements.
