In 1981, the department was established at Tashkent Center for the development of profession al qualification of medical workers under the name of the 2nd Pediatric Department, headed by Associate Professor Sh.Saydiganiev.

In 1984, the course "Nutrition of sick and healthy children" was organized at the department. Under the guidance of associate professor Sh.Sh.Shamukhamedov, the department was named "Pediatrics-2 with a nutrition course for sick and healthy children".

In 1985, to improve the skills of pediatricians of Tashkent city and the region, the Department of Pediatrics - 4 was established, headed by Professor A.T.Sultanov.        In 1992, both departments were merged and renamed the Department of Pediatrics and Child Nutrition, where A.T.Sultanov was head of the department from 1992 to 2017 and professor until 2020.

Over the years, the following professor-teachers worked at the department: associate professors Kitain V.A., Akhmedova I.M., Alieva M., Niyazov D.M., Kodirov A.Yu., assistants Manuntseva E.A., Kurbonov Yu. K, Nabieva S.A., Nasal M.V., Karimova S.Sh., Rozhkova S.N.
