The topic of his PhD thesis is "The structure of night sleep in cerebral stroke". The topic of his doctoral dissertation is "Interhemispheric relationships and non-specific brain systems in cerebral stroke". His doctoral dissertation was defended in 1987 in Moscow.

He is the author of more than 1000 scientific publications, including 10 monographs and more than 40 manuals for doctors. He has 6 copyright certificates for inventions. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the following journals: "S.S. Korsakov Journal of Neurology and Psychiatry" (Moscow, Russia), the Russian version of the American Journal "Stroke", "International Neurological Journal" (Donetsk, Ukraine), the journal "Neurosurgery and Neurology" (Almaty, Kazakhstan), "Medical Almanac" (Nizhny Novgorod,  Russia). Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Neurology" (Tashkent, Uzbekistan). Chairman of the Association of Neurologists of Uzbekistan. In 2009, he was awarded the honorary title "Honored Healthcare Worker of Uzbekistan", in 2014 he was awarded the order "El-yurt khurmati". From 2015 to 2018, he was a deputy of the Tashkent City Council of People's Deputies.

Under the guidance of prof. Gafurov B.G., 51 candidate and 20 doctoral dissertations were defended.
