The Department of Hematology and Transfusiology was organized in 1961 by Professor, the first female hematologist, Doctor of Medical Sciences Gulbahrom Sulemanovna Suleymanova in 1961 on the basis of the Tashkent City Hospital No 15. She headed the Department until 1985. During this period, the Department developed methods of polychemotherapy of leukemia, studied hematological disorders in a number of somatic diseases, such as systemic diseases of the connective tissue, septic conditions, kidney diseases, etc.
For her long impeccable work, G.S. Suleymanova was awarded the title of "Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan".
Over the years, well-known scientists and specialists, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor S.T.
