Uzbekistan is one of the first countries in the former Soviet Union to introduce ultrasound technology into clinical practice. In 1961, the Research Institute of Roentgenology and Radiology of Uzbekistan, under the leadership of Honored Scientist Professor Dzhura Madzhidovich Abdurasulov (1921-1990), began research into the diagnostic capabilities of ultrasound. The first scientific report on the clinical use of ultrasound in medical diagnostics was presented at the VI Conference of Oncologists of Kazakhstan on October 8, 1962 (Abdurasulov D.M., Fazylov A.A., Yukhananov I.Kh. On the Use of Ultrasound in Diagnostics of Breast Tumors // Issues of Oncology and Radiology. Alma-ata, 1962, pp. 65-68).
In 1964, the first ultrasound diagnostic laboratory was created at the above-mentioned institute, which, along with conducting scientific research work, served as the main base for improving the qualifications of doctors.
Since 1977, the Tashkent Institute for Advanced Medical Studies has designated the laboratory as a training base for advanced training of doctors from all the Republics of the Soviet Union. In 1987, a course in instrumental (ultrasound) diagnostics was organized on the basis of the Chair of Oncology of the Tashkent Institute for Advanced Medical Studies, and in 1999, an independent Chair of ultrasound diagnostics was created.

Under his leadership, the course in ultrasound diagnostics of TashIUV became a large scientific, educational and practical center and was reorganized into the Chair of Ultrasound Diagnostics. Over the years, the Chair was headed by Professor Dusmuradov Allanazar Mirzaevich (1999-2005), Associate Professor Fazilova Sevara Akramovna (2009-2017).
