The Department of Radiology (medical radiology) was organized in 1932 under the leadership of Professor M.I. Slonim. initially in the form of a course led by Professor G. Mankus. Subsequently, in 1936, the course was transformed into a department and it was headed until 1952 by Professor A.S. Stekolnikov. During this period, the department was mainly engaged in training the scientific and pedagogical staff of the department. The doctors dealt mainly with issues of normal x-ray anatomy of organs and systems.
From 1952 to 1968, the department was headed by Professor Abdurasulov D.M. In 1959, Professor Abdurasulov D.M. The Research Institute of X-ray Radiology was opened, and the Department of Radiology moved to its base.
The main scientific direction of the department was the study of the possibilities of linear tomography for diseases of the brain, chest, abdominal cavity and urinary system, as well as the problems of primary multiple tumors, as well as issues of X-ray diagnostics of diseases of the chest, abdominal cavity and osteoarticular system. During this period, the department published 4 collections of works, 10 monographs, trained 5 doctors and 18 candidates of medical sciences.
In 1968, the department was divided into two: one, the Department of Radiology, headed by Professor Sh.M. Mirganiev, and the second, X-ray Radiology, headed by Professor A.R. Mansurov. In 1976, the departments merged again.
From 1976 to 1998, the united department was headed by Professor Mirganiev Sh.M. The following employees worked at the department at that time: associate professor, candidate of medical sciences. Enikeeva R.G., ass. Ph.D. Buravikhina V.N., Ph.D. Oster A.V., associate, candidate of medical sciences Bazhenova T.F., associate, candidate of medical sciences Galieva S.G. and etc.
The main scientific direction of the department during this period: X-ray diagnostics of diseases of the respiratory system, mediastinum and digestive tract, diseases of the osteoarticular system. 4 monographs published.
From 2008 to the present, employees of the department have published 3 monographs, more than 200 scientific articles (including in Scopus, Web of Science, etc.), 12 teaching aids, 2 patents for inventions, as well as participation in 3 grant projects. Under the guidance of Professor Ikramov A.I. 7 candidate's theses and 6 doctoral theses were defended. Employees of the department participate in the organization of international conferences, seminars and congresses held in Tashkent, and also take part in scientific and practical conferences and congresses held in other countries. From 2008 to the present, 168 clinical residents have been trained and work in leading medical organizations and centers in the capital and throughout the republic. Currently, 20 clinical residents and 1 graduate student are studying at the department.a
