Department history

The department was organized in 1963. The founder of the department or its first head, Honored Scientist, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Kayum Sobirovich Zairov, who led it from 1963 to 1984. K.S. Zoirov is a born hygienist, graduated from the sanitary and Hygienic faculty of TasMI in 1937. He is the author of 227 scientific papers, 5 monographs, 12 brochures, 12 methodological recommendations, 6 rationalization proposals on topical issues of hygiene, epidemiology, social hygiene, and healthcare organization. He has trained 2 doctors of sciences, 10 candidates of medical sciences. From 1963 to 1966. – Rector of the Tashkent Institute of Advanced Medical Training, from 1966 to 1979 – Minister of Health of the Uzbek SSR; since 1979 - Rector of the Tashkent Institute of Advanced Medical Training. He was awarded 5 orders, 11 medals, 4 certificates of honor.

K.S. Zairov's successor is Professor Sh.T. Atabaev, who graduated from the medical faculty of TASHMI in 1954. Head of the Department from 1984 to 1997. He is the author of 190 scientific papers, 12 monographs, 2 author's certificates, 15 brochures, 8 methodological recommendations, 5 rationalization proposals on issues of general hygiene and protection of the biosphere. He has trained 7 doctors of medical sciences, 34 candidates of medical sciences. He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, the medal "For Valiant Labor in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of V. I. Lenin", the badge "Excellent Health Worker", Certificate of Honor of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Uzbekistan, the Supreme Council, the Council of Ministers of the Uzbek SSR, Laureate of the A. Beruni State Prize.

Later, the department was headed by Professor A.I. Iskhakov from 1997 to 2002, who prepared 3 candidates of medical sciences, 114 scientific papers, 104 rationalization proposals, the author of 4 SanPiNs, more than 20 methodological recommendations, 6 brochures on immunology, hygiene and physiology of agricultural labor, communal hygiene, environmental hygiene.

H.I. Iskhakova – Head of the department from 2002 to 2004, trained 10 candidates of medical sciences, 2 doctors of medical Sciences. He is the author of more than 180 scientific publications, monographs, 2 training manuals, more than 15 methodological recommendations and appendices to the orders of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the author of 7 patents and more than 20 innovation proposals.

In different years, famous scientists and specialists worked at the department: R.S. Minina, R.U. Kukanbayev, L.T. Khamidov (awarded a certificate of honor from the USSR Ministry of Defense, medals), H.S. Ubaidullaev (awarded medals, "Internationalist Warrior"), G.T. Iskandarova, G.N. Ergashev, L.K. Zokova, R. Masharipov, N.M. Jamilova, H.M. Vakhidova, N. Amanov (awarded a diploma of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR and medals).

In 2004, the department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Damir Arifovich Zaredinov, Full Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Medical and Technical Sciences, IAEA expert, Excellent Student of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chief Radiologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
