Professor Grigory Semenovich Levi (1891-1977), a professor of Leningrad Military Medical Academy, the founder of the Pediatrics Department.
With his initiative, the Pediatric Department was established in 1943 in accordance with the decision of the Scientific Council of the Institute for the Improvement of Medical Skills in Tashkent, and Levi Grigory Semenovich was head of this department from 1943 to 1946.

Rafail Samoylovich Gershenovich (1889-1960)
Rafail Samoylovich Gershenovich (1889-1960), a pediatrician, scholar, and professor, was a prominent healthcare specialist in Uzbekistan. He was also a member of Berlin and Paris pediatricians' association and an editor of the journal "Pediatrics and Early Childhood Issues in USSR. He served as the head of the Pediatrics Department at the Institute for the Improvement of Medical Skills in Tashkent from 1946 to 1947 and was considered one of founders of Pediatric school in Uzbekistan responsible for leading Pediatric services. He played a significant role in combating diseases such as dysentery, malaria, and leishmaniasis, and his scientific and practical activities greatly contributed to the reduction of serious diseases among children. His monographs on "Childhood Leishmaniasis", "Typhoid Fever in Children", and "Heat-related Illnesses in Children" provided valuable information on diagnosis and treatment, which significantly improved the effectiveness of medical care.
For many years, he was the main reference points not only for pediatricians in Uzbekistan but also in other Central Asian republics. R.S. Gershenovich authored more than 240 scientific works and was one of the founders of the Pediatric School in Central Asia.

Professor Shamsiyev Fazlitdin Sayfutdinovich
Professor Shamsiyev Fazlitdin Sayfutdinovich led the department from 1990 to 2023. He carried out his professional activities along with scientific research. Under the leadership of Professor Fazlitdin Sayfutdinovich, the Pediatric Department conducted successful scientific research, resulting in the supervision of 6 doctoral and 20 candidate dissertations. He authored over 100 scientific articles, monographs, and methodological recommendations widely used in medical practice. Today, they remain one of the main sources for medical specialists' essential references. Shamsiev F.S. studied the etiological spectrum of pathogens of pneumonia in children, developed and implemented new algorithms for the diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases, which made it possible to increase the effectiveness of their treatment. The use of laser therapy in patients with severe pneumonia has proven the effectiveness of this method, reducing the frequency of various complications and deaths. Studies have been conducted to study risk factors and mechanisms of development of respiratory and allergic diseases in children who are often ill. Shamsiev F.S. is one of the organizers of the Republican Center for Pediatric Pulmonology and its branches. In 1978, Professor Shamsiev F.S. was awarded the honorary title of "Excellent Healthcare Worker", and in 1979 he became the winner of the ANRUz Prize. Currently, he is working to improve the skills of pediatricians in the republic.

Academician Shamsiev Sayfi Shamsievich (1914-1995),
(Was a head of the department from 1964 to 1974)
Shamsiev Sayfi Shamsievich devoted his entire life to Pediatrics after completing his institute. He became the first Uzbek pediatrician-academician. He was focusing on developing pediatric healthcare and ensuring the well-being of children. His talent greatly contributed to the advancement of pediatric services in our republic.
After the establishment of the Central Asian Medical Pediatric Institute (CAMPI) in 1972, he led the Department of Pediatric Propedeutics. Shamsiev authored numerous monographs widely used by pediatricians across the country, such as "Fundamentals of Syndromic Therapy in Children" (1974), " Topical issues of pediatric infectious pathology " (1978), "Shock Therapy in Pediatric Practice", "Dysentery in Children" (1977), "Handbook for District Pediatricians" (1982), "Basics of Electrocardiography in Children", "Drug Therapy in Pediatrics", "Ethics and Deontology in Pediatrics"and many others.
Despite his high position, Shamsiev remained humble, straightforward, and highly skilled. His dedication to the field of pediatrics was recognized by the state, and in 1968, he was awarded the title "Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan". In 1974, based on recommendations from his mentors G.N. Speransky, Academician Yulia Fominichna Dombrovskaya, and Alexander Fedorovich Tur, he was selected as a corresponding member of the former Union of Medical Sciences Academy and was honored with various state medals.
Professor Mirzamukhamedov Mannaf Atamatovich (1920-2002)
Professor Mirzamukhamedov Mannaf Atamatovich, served as an associate professor and rector of Tashkent State Medical Institute (TSMI) from 1963 to 1967. He led the Institute for the Improvement of Medical Skills in Tashkent from 1960 to 1963, during which several new faculties, including the Pediatrics Faculty, were established, and a new training format, internship, was implemented for the first time.
In 1966, due to his outstanding efforts, the former Soviet Union established the Institute of Scientific Research for Maternity and Childhood Protection, and he was appointed as its leader.
Under Professor Mirzamukhamedov's leadership, significant scientific research was conducted in pediatric pulmonology, allergology, and nephrology, resulting in the development of the first diagnostic criteria and treatment recommendations. He authored more than 150 scientific works and supervised 6 doctoral and 30 candidate dissertations.
Mirzamukhamedov Mannaf Atamatovich's dedication to the field of pediatrics and his service to the nation were recognized by various awards and honors, including the title of "Uzbekistan's Honored Physician" (1954), "Honored Scientist of Uzbekistan" (1980), the medal of the "Red Banner of Labor", the "Fakhrin Nishon" award, and the 1st-degree "For the Healthy Generation" medal.
Krylov Vyacheslav Ivanovich (1941-2004)
During the leadership of Professor Krylov Vyacheslav Ivanovich from 1992 to 2002, significant scientific research was conducted in neonatology, pediatric pulmonology, nephrology, and immunology. Under his guidance, more than 6 doctoral and 20 candidate dissertations were defended, covering various aspects of these fields.
Throughout its long history, the department has formed a highly skilled team consisting of professors, doctors of science, and experienced practitioners-instructors.
