The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology was founded in 1960.

The first head of the department was Zahida Maksimovna Jamalova, a doctor who served the republic in 1960-1976, candidate of medical sciences, deputy minister of health. all CIS countries and post-Soviet space. During this period, 16 candidate dissertations were defended at the department. In 1976-1979, the department was awarded the academic degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences. Solnyshko Anna Leontyevna is a labor veteran, Honored Doctor of the Republic. For more than 26 years, the department was headed by Doctor of Medical Sciences, President of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of the Republic of Uzbekistan, holder of the 1st degree Order “For a Healthy Generation,” Professor Delya Fakhrutdinovna Karimova.

On November 21, 2020, our department suffered a great loss; the great teacher D.F. passed away. Karimova, who was a teacher of thousands of obstetricians and gynecologists. Since 2009, the department has been headed by a young, talented, inventive, innovative professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences. Karimova Feruza Dzhavdatovna. On December 24, 2009, he was elected head of the department, Doctor of Medical Sciences on a competitive basis by the Academic Council of  the Central Republican Medical Research Center.
